Spring Cabaret at Café Sabarsky

Stars Come out on the East Side

Cabaret season begins anew at Café Sabarsky, part of the Neue Galerie, which has established itself as one of New York's premiere venues for Mitteleuropäische cabaret. Kurt Weill gets a workout this spring, as several artists scheduled to appear will incorporate his songs into their programs. Mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle will lead things off on Thursday, 21 March, performing a varied program featuring Weill and William Bolcom with pianist Ted Taylor. Castle has a long and fruitful association with Weill's music, on both the opera and recital stages. Other programs at the Café will feature Weill as well: Sanda Weigl (Bertolt Brecht's niece) on 4 April, and Amy Burton with John Musto on 18 April.
