Weill’s music was last heard at the Bregenz Festival in 2004, when Protagonist, Royal Palace, and Der Kuhhandel took center stage.
On 6 August, the legendary HK Gruber (top right) will lead the Wiener Symphoniker and soprano Gun-Brit Barkmin (bottom right) in a concert performance of Die sieben Todsünden at the Festspielhaus on a program that will also feature works by Hanns Eisler and Gruber’s own Frankenstein!!. Gruber’s association with Weill goes back decades; he has conducted many of Weill’s major works and spearheaded several essential recordings. Barkmin specializes in 20th-century repertoire.
