HK Gruber brings his vast experience and formidable expertise in the works of Kurt Weill to the podium this month to lead the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in performances of Weill’s two symphonies and excerpts from Der Silbersee. Gruber will both conduct and be featured as chansonnier in the Silbersee songs. The live event will stream without an audience on 9 April, followed by a premiere recording of the critical editions of the two symphonies in May. Click for concert details.

Gruber and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra have a shared history of celebrated Weill performances. In 2014, Gruber took the orchestra on a European tour with an all-Weill program that included Die sieben Todsünden. They reunited in 2018 to perform Weill’s Symphony no. 2 (watch it here). Gruber’s career-spanning contributions to the performance and appreciation of Weill’s music led the Kurt Weill Foundation’s Board of Trustees to name him the eighth recipient of its Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award in 2019.
