Nearly a year after the 2020 Encores! production of Love Life was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, City Center has announced the release of a new mini-documentary that takes viewers behind the scenes of the creative process as part of their new digital series, Inside the Revival. An episode dedicated to Love Life will stream for free starting on February 24, and will feature one-on-one conversations with director Victoria Clark, music director Rob Berman, and former Encores! artistic director Jack Viertel to give viewers a glimpse of how they planned to stage the rarely seen musical. The episode also includes several star-studded performances captured at rehearsals and press events, including Brian Stokes Mitchell and Kate Baldwin singing the duet “Here I’ll Stay,” Baldwin singing the eleven o’clock number “Mr. Right,” John Edwards singing the haunting “Love Song,” and the male quartet performing a rousing rendition of “Economics.” Mark your calendars: this is a must-see.
