One night only. Patti LuPone (right) will fill Carnegie Hall with her popular new program, “Far Away Places,” which celebrates travel in exotic locales with help from four Kurt Weill songs (“Bilbao Song,” “Pirate Jenny,” “Sailors’ Tango,” and “September Song”). Music director/pianist Joseph Thalken and the Gypsy Drifters will appear with her.
LuPone debuted the program in 2012 at 54 Below. A recording soon followed, and she has been taking the act on the road ever since. She will continue to do so throughout the 2013-14 season; click here for a list of dates. If you missed the Carnegie Hall performance, try to make it to Philadelphia between 20 and 23 November; LuPone will bring “Far Away Places” to the Prince Music Theater for four nights.
