Book Title: New York Diaries 1609-2009
Editor: Teresa Carpenter
Publisher: Modern Library, 2012
Kurt Weill gets a fair amount of attention for his musical and theater works, but no one ever mistook him for Samuel Pepys. Yet the new anthology, New York Diaries 1609-2009 (Modern Library, 2012) includes three short diary entries from early 1950, just a few months before Weill’s death. The New York Times web site got into the act with a brief book review and even a scan of the original diary, now housed in the Weill-Lenya Papers at the Yale Music Library.
