Event page
Ian Bostridge (right) has become quite an exponent of Weill’s Walt Whitman Songs, having performed them at the Aldeburgh Festival and the Vienna Konzerthaus in recent years. Berliners will have an opportunity to hear him interpret the compact, powerful cycle of four songs with pianist Julius Drake on a program that also features Purcell, Bach, Haydn, and Britten. Part of the “Infektion!” festival, which celebrates the hundredth birthday of John Cage and focuses on 20th- and 21st century music and theater, Bostridge’s recital takes place near the end of the ten-day event, on 12 July.
